Raksystems becomes Finland’s leading environmental certification provider in the real estate industry
Raksystems Insinööritoimisto Oy purchased the entire share capital of Green Building Partners Ltd (GBP) on 18 February 2020. GBP is a well-known expert in environmental certification, energy efficiency and real estate lifecycle management services. The merger strengthens Raksystems’ position as Finland’s leading real estate energy service provider and brings the Group closer to its goal of becoming the leading property wellbeing expert in the Nordic countries.
The acquisition further expands Raksystems’ comprehensive portfolio of energy services, as 25 new experts join the energy expert network covering the whole Finland. The Group now has a total of 44 employees who have the right to prepare energy performance certificates and 28 employees who have the right to assess the environmental performance of properties.
“The acquisition of Green Building Partners Ltd allows us to offer environmental certificates for properties also in Finland. Our subsidiary Dry-IT is known for environmental certification in Sweden. An environmental certificate is a certificate verified by a third party on the environmental performance of a construction project or an existing building. The acquisition also strengthens the relationship between the different operating areas of our Group”, says Marko Malmivaara, the Managing Director of Raksystems Insinööritoimisto Oy.
GBP has prepared most of the environmental performance assessments done in Finland. All of the assessed properties have achieved or exceeded the target certification level within the agreed schedule. GBP’s service portfolio includes all the major environmental certification systems like LEED, BREEAM and Finnish RTA as well as the internationally growing performance testing system WELL.
“As a result of the acquisition, we will also be able to offer our customers real estate tax assessments, a service that can lead to significant savings in real estate tax. GBP’s experts also have experience in the control of construction projects’ structural physics aspects through the TerveTalo (Healthy Building) system, which I believe to be one of the key factors in the creation of a healthier built environment. We are Finland’s leading indoor air survey provider, and after this acquisition, we will also be Finland’s leading environmental company. None of the other Finnish consulting engineers have the same spectrum of research expertise as us. Hence, we will be able to provide our customers even more comprehensive services from under the same roof,” Malmivaara continues.

After the acquisition, Green Building Partners Ltd will continue its operations as a subsidiary of Raksystems. The pro forma net sales forecast of the Raksystems Group after this acquisition is EUR 44 million for 2020.
